As Australia’s fastest growing city, Melbourne’s energy needs are as dynamic as the city itself with new housing and infrastructure currently underway. We’re preparing for this by proposing an $101 million investment - a key step towards a more connected and electrified Melbourne. This investment will ensure that as our city expands, the infrastructure that powers it is ready to meet the demand.

What you told us

  • You want a reliable energy supply, and are generally satisfied with the current level of reliability.
  • You're becoming more dependent on electricity as you work from home more frequently and electrify your home, but are concerned about future reliability.
  • You want equity when it comes to solar exports, and feel capacity increases to support positive flexible export outcomes are important.
  • You want us to respond the climate emergency and prioritise emissions reductions.
  • You recognise electric vehicles' potential to support rapid decarbonisation and see a future-ready network tied to their widespread use.

What we're proposing

Modernising the Brunswick supply area

By enhancing the energy infrastructure in Brunswick, West Brunswick and Collingwood, we’re ensuring these neighbourhoods - rich in history and culture - can continue to thrive with a safe and reliable electricity supply.

Redeveloping our Burnley depot

This will ensure we can continue to meet our customers’ changing needs, no matter what the future holds.

Apprentice and field training centre

This redevelopment includes the establishment of a state-of-the-art apprentice and field training centre, where we’ll equip the next generation of energy professionals with the skills and knowledge to power Victoria forward
